Why Hazelnuts?Once upon a time, wild hazelnuts covered the Midwest landscape. This special local nut (the American hazelnut) was coveted for its decadent flavor and heart-healthy nutrients. Looking for a more natural way to grow food, a handful of eco-conscious farmers started planting hazelnuts and joined together to start the American Hazelnut Company.
Today, a hazelnut farm offers so much to so many. To growers, it's a way to build soil health, climate-resilience, and diversity on the farm.
